THE BAIRRO: Known for the warmth of its native residents and the natural beauty, the beach attracts numerous tourists in high season. Many of them are foreigners, coming from North America and Europe, who come to Barra also in the quieter months. The 4.75 km2 of the Barra da Lagoa district is in a privileged area, with surrounding hills, embedded between the Atlantic Ocean, Lagoa da Conceição and Morro da Galheta and crossed by the Barra Channel, the only connection of the brackish waters of Lagoa da Lagoa.
